The Ad Lib "Gold Card"
According to a slick magazine ad pre-print which I now hold in my
hand, which was sent to me by Ad Lib INC., yes, Virginia, there IS a
Gold Card. At least there will be by this summer.
Official Name: Ad Lib Gold Multimedia Stereo Sound Adapters
Model Numbers: Ad Lib Gold PC-1000 for PC,XT,AT for normal disk based
applications. Microphone jack, tabletop microphone, game and
MIDI ports, standard 1/8" stereo out/in jacks.
Ad Lib Gold AT-2000. For use with AT class machines. Same
features as above, but with SCSI interface port for use with
CD-ROM based applications.
Ad Lib Gold MC-3000. Same as AT-2000, but for Micro Channel
computers.
Board Functionality: Multivoice sound synthesizer and digital to
analog converters for stereo playback of music, sound
effects, speech.
Microphone input and tabletop microphone for voice recording
and sound sampling.
Auxiliary input for digital recordings from CDs, audio
tapes, and other analog sound sources.
Audio mixer for combining CD audio, voice,
synthesized sound, and sampled sound signals.
MIDI in/out for interfacing with any standard MIDI
device.
Game port for all standard analog joysticks.
Fully downward compatible with Ad Lib Music Synthesizer
Card.
Full compliance with Level 1 multimedia extensions to
Microsoft Windows.
Sound Quality: 20 channels of synthesized sound plus two channels of
sound sampling.
Stereo output with programmable volume and tone controls.
Enhanced FM synthesis from 36 operators in groups of
two or four using eight differ forms.
12 bit stereo DAC accepting 16, 12, and 8 bit data.
Antialiasing filter, plus two times oversampling and
two times undersampling digital filters.
Technical Versatility: Choice of PCM or ADPCM digital sampling at
rates of 44.1, 22.05, 11.25, 7.35, or 5.5125 kHz.
3:1 hardware compression/decompression.
Two 128 byte sampling FIFO with a choice of 8 interrupt
conditions.
16 byte MIDI I/O FIFO with three programmable timers.
Zero wait time between successive chip writes.
Programmable microphone gain, card localization, DMA
channel selection, interrupt selection, sampling
filter and on-board chip select.
Available ID code plus directly accessible/readable
registers stored in non-volatile memory.
